Kind Water E-3000UV vs E-2000 vs 6-Stage RO
Three Kind Water Systems products, three different jobs. Use this page to pick the right niche — city whole-house taste/chlorine/scale + UV, compact salt-free scale + sediment, or under-sink drinking RO — without treating salt-free gear as an ion-exchange softener or RO as whole-house softening.
Quick comparison
E-3000UV (B0F4K6QCMS)
- Job: Whole-house city package — sediment/carbon-style filtration + salt-free scale conditioning + UV.
- Scope: Most house taps (not a dedicated RO drinking faucet).
- Hardness: Conditioner path — GPG often still tests hard.
- Deep dive: E-3000UV guide
E-2000 (B0D7JRM8KJ)
- Job: Compact whole-house salt-free “softener alternative” — scale conditioning + sediment.
- Scope: Whole-house inlet; leaner package than E-3000UV (no UV/carbon combo framing).
- Hardness: Same honesty rule — not ion exchange; GPG often still hard.
- Deep dive: E-2000 guide
6-Stage RO (B0D9KSY9Q6)
- Job: Under-sink point-of-use drinking / cooking water.
- Scope: One faucet — not showers, laundry, or whole-house plumbing.
- Hardness: RO can drop dissolved solids at that faucet; it still does not “soften the house.”

Salt softener (not Kind salt-free)
- Job: Ion exchange removes calcium/magnesium house-wide.
- When: Soft laundry, soft showers, near-zero GPG on a titration kit.

Honesty rules (read before you buy)
- Salt-free ≠ ion exchange. “Softener alternative” and “salt-free softener” marketing usually means scale conditioning. Hardness minerals typically stay in the water. See what actually softens.
- RO ≠ whole-house softener. The Kind 6-Stage RO treats drinking/cooking water at one faucet. It does not replace a softener for baths and laundry.
- E-3000UV vs E-2000 are both whole-house salt-free paths; E-3000UV is the fuller city package (filtration + UV framing). Neither zeros hardness the way resin does.
- Private wells with iron, H₂S, or bacteria need a lab and treatment order first — do not assume any of these three is a complete well solution (iron, H₂S).
When each Kind product is a strong pick
Pick E-3000UV when…
- You are on city / municipal water and care about chlorine taste/smell, sediment, scale help, and UV at the whole-house level.
- You refuse salt and brine discharge but still want a fuller “combo” package than conditioner + sediment alone.
- You accept that soap feel and GPG will not match a working salt softener.
Pick E-2000 when…
- Your main goal is compact whole-house scale help + sediment without salt/brine.
- You do not need the E-3000UV’s UV + fuller filtration framing.
- You want a leaner Kind salt-free path and will verify listing stages live on Amazon.
Pick 6-Stage RO when…
- You mainly care about drinking and cooking water at a dedicated faucet.
- You already have (or do not care about) whole-house softening / conditioning for showers.
- You will budget filter replacements and can install under-sink drain / faucet hardware correctly (or hire a pro).
Skip Kind salt-free / RO-only when…
- You want classic soft-water feel and near-zero hardness — size a salt softener by GPG instead.
- You need certified reduction for a specific health claim — lab + licensed water-treatment pro first.
- Well water with iron / H₂S / bacteria — treatment order may require other stages before these SKUs.
Can you stack them?
Sometimes, yes — with clear roles. Example: whole-house E-2000 or E-3000UV for inlet scale/filtration goals, plus under-sink 6-Stage RO for drinking water. That is two systems, two maintenance schedules, two install scopes. Do not expect the RO to soften baths, or the salt-free whole-house unit to replace RO for taste/TDS at the drinking faucet.
If you already run a salt softener, kitchen drinking water is often handled with a kitchen cold bypass and/or RO — different tradeoffs than salt-free whole-house.
Practical decision checklist
- Name the job. Soft showers? City chlorine + UV + scale help? Compact scale + sediment? Drinking faucet only?
- Know your water. City: CCR + hardness. Well: lab panel before shopping.
- If you need soft water, stop comparing Kind salt-free models as softeners — read size by GPG.
- If salt-free whole-house fits, choose E-3000UV (fuller city combo) vs E-2000 (leaner conditioner + sediment) from the live Amazon listings.
- If drinking water is the pain point, read the 6-Stage RO guide and plan filters + TDS checks.
- Install with a licensed plumber or water-treatment professional. This page is educational only.
